Dear Sisters,
Before the Mystery of Christmas, let us allow ourselves to be grasped by adoring wonder at the Incarnation of the Word of God in the womb of Mary of Nazareth, a young woman willing to receive in her womb the Seed of the Holy Spirit in order to give it to the world in her Son, Jesus. It is thus that all are saved and have Life in abundance.
«What can be more astonishing
than seeing the condescendence of God,
who allows himself to be conceived
in the womb of a woman?
What an incredible thing!
God within the body of a woman
“he whose throne is in the heavens
and the earth is his footstool”! (Is 66:1)
God is contained within a womb,
he who is above the heavens
and dwells with the Father in eternity!
And what is more wonderous than this,
to see God in human form,
without leaving his divinity?
See human nature
entirely interwoven with its Creator,
so that man may be totally divinized,
he who initially gave in to sin?» (Andrew of Crete, Homily)
May Mary, the Mother of God, and Joseph, her spouse and loving guardian, teach us the authentic art of discipleship that receives the Gift with gratitude and shares it with joy, promptly and simply.
