PDDM PH-TW-HK: In response to the 4th Priority of the PDDM 9th General Chapter—Go out, Welcome and Accompany the Youth, the Philippine-Taiwan-Hong Kong Province Pastoral Care for the Youth and Vocation (PCYV) has launched the 1st batch of the Diocesan Visits from July 4 to 30, 2018.
The PCYV Directress, Sr. Maria Janice Golez, PDDM has visited nine dioceses: Bacolod, San Carlos, Dumaguete and Calbayog in the Visayas; Iligan and Pagadian in Mindanao; Masbate, Legazpi and Virac in Luzon.
The visits featured a two-fold objective: a.) vocation awareness campaign, and b.) Youth Encounter and Accompaniment. The former was done by the diffusion of the PDDM vocation promotion materials as well as by giving brief orientation to the youth about vocation in general and the PDDM vocation in particular. On the other hand, Youth Encounter and Accompaniment was launched in different dioceses through formal gatherings with the young people in parishes, vicariates, Catholic schools and with various youth groups.
Each gathering was highlighted by a talk entitled, “Fear not, You’ve Got Grace”— given in the light of Pope Francis’ message on the occasion of the 33rd World Youth Day and some points from the Final Document of the Pre-Synodal Meeting of the Young People in Rome held last March 19-24, 2018. The talk aimed to guide young people toward better understanding of themselves, their vocation and their place in the world. This particular initiative continues through the use of the modern means of communications. In fact, the PCYV Directress is now doing online accompaniment with youths she already met in the aforementioned places.
With the blessing of the Local Ordinaries and the generous collaboration of the Vocation Directors and Youth Coordinators of the said dioceses, our PDDM PCYV ministry in the Province was able to extend its service to the young people in different provinces in the Philippines with the hope that its initiatives may bear fruit not only for the congregation but for the whole Church.
Convinced that the pastoral work for the youth and vocations is an integral part of evangelization that the PDDM must prioritize with an attitude of gratuity, and that it is the Lord who provides good laborers into His vineyard, our Province is committed to invest human and economic resources, without expecting to obtain immediate results. Indeed, God remains faithful in blessing all the initiatives of the Church in caring for the youth people who are a gift to the world.
