I had been thinking about Religious Life for
some time and had practically decided to enter the Order of
Religious sisters by whom I had been taught in the primary and
secondary schools, when something unexpected happened.
I was visiting a group of friends at one of
their homes when two Sister Disciples of the Divine Master who had
lost their way, stopped to ask for directions. They were looking
for another girl who was interested in the Order. When the sisters
saw this group of young women, they took the opportunity to do
some vocation promotion. One of them asked if any of us wanted
to become a nun. To the amazement of my friends, I put up my hand!
We were all invited to go and visit their community, and the rest
is history!
I was attracted by the joyful simplicity and
warm friendly hospitality of the sisters. Their life centred on
Jesus present in the Eucharist, the Priesthood and the Liturgy, I
also found to be very appealing. I decided that this was the life
that I wanted to commit myself to for the rest of my life. I can
truly say that I have never regretted making that choice even
though I have had my fair share of challenges along the way.
Over the years I have been involved in various
ministries in the Eucharistic, Priestly and Liturgical
Apostolates. I have enjoyed especially caring for the sick and
elderly priests where I was able to show the compassionate face of
Christ and at the same time be enriched by their witness of
faithful and generous dedication. “ By this all will know that you
are my disciples, by the love you have for one another.”
(Jn.13:35)
If you feel that the Lord is calling you to
follow him in a more radical way, do not be afraid to respond
wholeheartedly to his call as what you will receive from Him will
far surpass anything that you will leave behind.
