Vocation Ministry

Young Paulines in Australia

After the "Hearts on Fire Vocation Congress" held in Melbourne last October 2003, I attended a conference for vocation ministers which tackled the topic Discerning in Accompaniment. We looked at the scriptural foundations of this ministry and considered vocations in relation to the Church of the future.

We are journeying together with the Church in Australia which presents to the young people religious life as a form of committing oneself to the Kingdom of God. Some initiatives which we had the grace to push through last year:  Good Shepherd Sunday,  the 11th of May 2003, the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, I visited the Vietnamese Community where I spoke of our vocation at the Eucharistic Celebration. During the National Vocation Awareness Week, 3-10 August, together with a Polish youth group,  we contemplated folIowing Jesus in religious life today. It was also an opportunity for them to hear about the vocation of the Sister Disciple.

We continue to pray for the gift of new life to the Pauline Family in Australia.
